WORKING SKEWed Ballo Jacket | Yeast

€545.00

Here’s a very age appropriate take on the baseball jacket that won’t make you look twelve. This Ballo jacket is a short snapfront jacket made in Japan by WORKING SKEWed (the brand’s denim project). It has crossover back seams in contrasting navy that bring the ‘yeast’ colour to life - a warm beige described by the brand as the colour of a fresh yeast block at a village bakery.

The fabric is a fine cotton twill woven at Edwin’s Northern Mill in Japan for Lee Japan. It’s lightweight with a slight stretch, so it’s a great jacket for warmer weather or layering under a coat. The cuffs fasten asymmetrically, based on a found example, with brass press studs and there are very nice copper rivets on the pockets.

Working SKEWed is made at Edwin Japan’s experimental ‘SKEWed’ production facility, combining their in-house weaving and sewing expertise with WORKING’s experimental design approach. It focuses on the natural “skew” of denim that emerges through wear and construction.

WORKING is a collaborative brand by William Kroll (Tender Co.) and Robert Newman (Middle Distance, Massimo Osti Studio, Stone Island and CP Company). Operating from their studios in Glasgow, Scotland, and Phoenixville, Pennsylvania, they combine their distinct approaches to design and production; exploring each other’s perspectives on fabrics, art and design history, uniform construction, and an expanded interpretation of workwear. WORKING garments are crafted in very limited quantities in England and Japan.
