Tender Co Type 719 Butterfly Jumper | Brown

The Butterfly jumper-sweater-pullover (depending on your region) was named after the butterfly effect and how a small change can have large repercussions. It started out as an investigation into what would happen to a Tender garment if the side seams were removed - and here we have the result and we love it. 

The Butterfly jumper is Tender’s first knit made in the USA and is fully fashioned without link lines along the centre of the back and front. All the link lines are set with ridges pointing outwards, keeping the inside smooth and flat, and accentuating the panel shapes. There are no side seams and the sleeves are linked upside-down. 

The woollen yarn is spun in England at a high twist and knitted at high tension, giving a dense, firm handle to the fabric. The superb colour is called Brown Hat. It’s a seasonal hadal dye from Tender that came about from thinking about the colour choice back to front - rather than choosing a Pantone colour and asking the dye house to match it, William described the deep brown hue and this was the result. And hats off to William because the colour is sensational - it goes with everything from black to navy, white and cream.

Tender Co. is the creation of designer William Kroll.

Tender specialises in rare techniques to produce very unique garments often using deadstock fabrics and natural dyes. All products are made in small runs. Tender garments have all been made in England until the brand relocated in 2025, shifting production to USA. Due to the engineering and ‘slow’ ethos behind the construction, each item can differ to the next, for a truly special piece.
