Middle Distance Drill Jacket | Midnight Grey

€780.00

Try walking into a room in the Drill jacket without someone asking about it. Middle Distance has managed to create a jacket that’s technical and artisanal but seriously wearable. You don’t have to be into clothes to appreciate the workmanship here.

The construction is insanely detailed but the jacket itself is so subtle in how good it looks when worn. It’s made from a thick brushed cotton that’s laser cut with little perforations that give texture and interest. The silhouette is slightly cropped with a boxy and oversized fit which is flattering on all body types as the thicker fabric holds its shape well. There are snap closures on the cuffs so you can one-handledly (!!) tighten the wrists and enjoy the slight pleated detail. Of course there are pockets inside and outside, lined with deadstock military cotton ripstop no less.

The Drill jacket is garment dyed which lightly felts the cotton and semi covers the perforations, so fear not, should you choose to go topless underneath (which we wouldn’t recommend), mystery and dignity shall remain intact. As for the size, go big or go home - honestly this is a free for all, as the cropped, boxy silhouette and raglan sleeves mean most people can wear large, like wee Oisín here.

As with all Nubes garms, a really limited amount were made but this one is especially rare.

Middle Distance is a Glasgow-based clothing brand exploring unconventional materials and means of manufacturing, alongside radical histories of self-made uniform and streetwear. The brand investigates the boundary between craft and technology to create technical, artisanal and industrial garments.

It is the work of Robert Newman, who has an impressive background in design for Italian and American street and sportswear brands like Massimo Osti Studio, Supreme and Stone Island. Newman is also the other half of our beloved brand, WORKING.

“It is a strange realism, but it is a strange reality.”
